From our mailbag: A letter of thanks to David Sharp

I would like to tell you about our experience with the National Foster Parent Association and what they did for us in a time of need.

My name is Dr. Jerry Brown. My wife Enola and I have been foster parents to a precious little girl, since the day she was born. When she turned two and a half years old and just before she became legally free, the local department called us in and said she was to be sent to the other side of the United States to a relative she had never met. Knowing the complete shock and turmoil she would go through in this move, we were despondent and desperate. We did not know who to turn to and came across the National Foster Parent Association. David Sharp, the public policy chair, not only sympathized with our plea, he contacted the local chapter and the state liaison for the Department of Children's Welfare. David then proceeded to help our lawyer with case law and foster parents rights.
Because of the involvement of the National Foster Parents Association, we had someone on our side of the court. We can't thank you enough and would be more than willing to recommend anyone to this caring organization.
Sincerely,
Jerry and Enola Brown

  1. Way to go David. The NFPA has a terrific Board of Directors who help foster parents directly and indirectly every day. Thank you!
